![]() Fast forward and now I am back in World wondering why I said such foolish things. I really enjoyed Rise when it came out and I even told a few friends I thought it was a better monster hunting experience because of the changes. Is World better than Rise? That's subjective and you would need to check it out for yourself. I feel like wire bugs is a main contributor to this. I really enjoyed the wire bugs initially but I do understand some of the old heads of the series saying Rise is "easier" compared to older titles. Wire bugs changed the way you play the game, from World to Rise. (Wasn't Angie's fault he killed me, I tried to wire bug away lol). One of the big things I noticed, while I blabber about wire bugs, in rise you can wire bugs away after getting smacked, that is absent in world and because of that, you have to be a little more careful when you get up, looking at you first encounter Anjanath. I feel like most weapons in Rise have counters and get out of jail free cards. Weapons in World also feel very different because of no wire bugs. Rise mounting with wire bugs was fun but it actually feels stronger than the wall ram in World. Mounting monsters in World feels better than Rise. I also am not playing the game with a speed runner anymore, so ramming into walls is not "on the clock" meaning I'm not focusing on just this piece every time it can be done. While I was not a fan of the clutch claw when IB launched, since returning I have found I rather enjoy weakening monsters parts to get ready to lop them off. In World you have a clutch claw and a mounting mechanic. The gameplay in World is vastly different from Rise. You dive under water to go under fallen underbrush, the immersion is just that much better in World than Rise. You push your way through tight areas through tree branches and vines. You have a large living breathing world and it's awesome. ![]() Immersion is just better in World, no other way to slice it. Since returning to World, I have a better understanding now as to why this is the immersion, the gameplay, the weapons. Meanwhile, in World, I could play all day and all night and never get enough. 2-3 hunts, maybe 4 if you ask me nicely, and I'm done for a while. That being said, I couldn't quite put my finger on why I can't play rise like I did World. When Rise first came out I was blown away by the overall monster hunting experience. World was my first monster hunter as well and I have recently gone back to start a fresh character.
